My Last Cash 03:07
There's a lesson I learned I have to learn again You'll tell me it's all okay, but then I look in your eyes and know that's not so. Affection comes back with a jolt and a flash I'll tell you it doesn't fade, and well, that's All you get from me, at least without a drink. I always spent my love like my last cash. I couldn't tell you how it all went so fast. I should have taken time to ask you how you were. Or maybe you told me, I can't be sure. You can have me now, for all that it's worth I always spent my love like my last cash. I couldn't tell you how it all went so fast. All I want is to kill some time with you now. All I want is to kill some time with you now written by Dann Morr & Jaime Vazquez published by Wanna Ride Bikes? (ASCAP)

I held my breath as the train pulled in the station. How strange to be back home. This is the first time you won't be waiting on the platform when I arrive For the whole ride I thought I reconciled my feelings now that you're gone But as I stand here on my own with bag in hand I only feel deprived. I close my eyes, keep the earth beneath my feet The warmth of the sun takes the chill out of the breeze For a moment everything at peace And I remember you. This is the same path we used to take together on autumn days We'd walk in silence no need for conversation, lost in our minds I like to think that if I walk this path alone I will feel you near I'll pretend you only wandered out of sight or you're close behind. I close my eyes, keep the earth beneath my feet The warmth of the sun takes the chill out of the breeze For a moment everything at peace And I remember you. I remember you my friend I remember you I remember you my friend I remember you written by Dann Morr published by Wanna Ride Bikes? (ASCAP)

The ghost of your voice rings but it's hollow the echo is all that remains. It floats on the air I barely can follow quietly quickly it fades I stumble and fall as I call thru the valley I'm closer while chasing your name The pillar of doubt casts a long shadow. Which one of us lost their way? The sun starts to wane. Will you be here tomorrow? There's little light left in the day. I stumble and fall as I call thru the valley I'm closer while chasing your name The farther I travel the more of a gamble I make our direction's the same. The ghost of your voice rings but it's hollow the echo is all that remains. written by Dann Morr published by Wanna Ride Bikes? (ASCAP)

It's a sixteen hour drive back East and we start before day break I take the first shift since I know I'll be awake and the darkness melts away before we hit Mile Marker 1 in front me all I see are the foothills and the sun And it will be your turn to drive once we cross the Great Divide for now you're fast asleep on the passenger side Dark clouds gathering behind I won't pay them any mind We'll keep in front of the storm and and we'll make it home alive every mile thru the mountains brings more beauty than I've known I should share with you but I prefer to see it on my own with Painful on the stereo since I got behind the wheel I sing with Georgia one more time "Do you know how I feel?" And it will be your turn to drive once we cross the Great Divide for now you're fast asleep on the passenger side Dark clouds gathering behind I won't pay them any mind We'll keep moving east and I know we'll be fine We'll keep in front of the storm as we've done since before dawn There will be nothing but clear skies before too long There will be nothing but clear skies before too long There will be nothing but clear skies before too long written by Dann Morr published by Wanna Ride Bikes? You write novels in the second person And can't think of anything worse than being told what to do You don't like it when I am forthcoming And there ain't no bigger drag than to get stuck next to you. You talk love but say you've never been in it And no matter the subject you know your beliefs to be true Your leather cuff doesn't make you tough You just try too hard for someone with nothing to prove So you say There's only so much I can take I cant let this go another day I'll think it over but I think it's the right way You own the rights to a new kind of sadness And if anyone takes up your hobby you tell them you're thru You live by a code that's unspoken And someday you'll reap that reward that's so long overdue. So you say There's only so much I can take I can’t let this go another day I'll think it over but I think it's time I Had my say There is no more I can take I won’t let this go another day Now think it over ‘cause I think it's the right way written by Dann Morr & Jaime Vazquez published by Wanna Ride Bikes? I have a notecard in my pocket to tell me what day it is I keep my journal close at hand I use it to record the little things that add up to a life I hope you understand I check my notes Put your face with a name Remind myself this is New York not LA I know it's not an easy task confabulations cloud my mind Yet you stay by my side It's a waste of time to compare self to what I used to be Fill in all the lost time I check my notes Put your face with a name Remind myself this is New York not LA I used to fear there'd come a day I'd turn around and be 80 Missing years of my life Now I have one request of you and it would mean the world to me If we could cross that finish line So don't tell me how far I've run Don't tell me how far I've run written by Dann Morr published by Wanna Ride Bikes? about

"Winter in Chicago can be brutal and I had planned to spend the beginning of 2015 hibernating," Dann says. "No sooner had I decided that, when I received invitations to perform on one of my favorite radio stations, host a series of shows at one of my favorite clubs, and open for one of my favorite songwriters. It turned out to be a much better way to spend those cold nights that sitting on the couch, binge watching TV shows."

Friends and fans gathered on those cold nights to listen as Dann and his revolving lineup of musical guests worked their way through his catalog of music while also paying homage to some of his favorite artists. Each night a different line up. Each night a different theme. From pop and rock to folk and soul. Unplugged and intimate to loud and raucous .

"The Echo Is All That Remains" is just a slice of the music performed during that Chiberian Winter. The 10-track album was recorded in Chicago at The Hideout, Martyrs’, and live on the air at WBEZ. It features songs from Dann's 2014 album "Shouting Into the Wind" plus his previous projects Wells-next-the-Sea, Analog Radio, and Tom Daily. As he did on "Shouting", "The Echo" continues a musical exploration of where Dann comes from and where he is going.
